Over a hot September weekend, 52 cyclists from Edrington, Edrington-Beam Suntory and Maxxium Spain cycled more than 215km across Andalucía and raised over £120,000 for local charity AFANAS.
Nine different nationalities from across the Edrington world came together for a couple of very tough days cycling over the mountains of Spain to give more to AFANAS.
Established in 1964, AFANAS specialises in the care of mentally handicapped people, of all ages, aiming to provide quality care, education and support through all the challenges that life throws at us all.
Following the ride, those who participated had one last big fundraising push and the final total exceeded all expectations when it reached £120,000 (€130,500). AFANAS plans to use the funds to build a Sensory Room at their Vista Hermosa high-dependency residence, along with an outdoor exercise space at its residential facilities in Jerez. It will also be able to offer part-time physiotherapy services.
We would like to thank our generous partners without whom this initiative would not have been possible. Thank you!
